Augmentation and Reduction Mammoplasty

Breast augmentation, reduction or lift is one of the most commonly performed surgeries in the United States and the world. The surgery can dramatically change the appearance of the breasts. There are several methods to change the appearance of the breasts and these will depend on the size, characteristics and desire of the patient.

Augmentation mammoplasty is a procedure used to enlarge the size of small breasts due to lack of development or because they reduced in size after pregnancies; breast augmentation is performed by placing a silicone implant completely harmless to the patient. The results are phenomenal in most cases.
After the augmentation mammoplasty surgery, the patient will wear a special bra for a few weeks. The sutures are absorbable by your body, that is, there is no need to remove them. Rest for 2 weeks is essential. It is recommended not to perform intense physical activity during the first 2 months after surgery.

A mammoplasty is usually performed under spinal anesthesia and may involve one incision around the areola and another in a "J" shape. For implant placement in the case of an augmentation mammoplasty, only a small incision is usually made in the areola.

Most cases can be done on an outpatient basis, meaning you will only be in the clinic for a few hours after the procedure.
